Councillor WH Tjihuiko -

Council Member Werner-Meck Tjihuiko, born on 06 June 1980 in Windhoek, Namibia, is a newly elected Municipal Council Member of the City of Windhoek, representing the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) party. He assumed office following the Regional and Local Authority elections held on 26 November 2025 and was officially inaugurated on 05 December 2025.

 

Councillor Tjihuiko completed his secondary education at Okakarara Senior Secondary School in 1999. He later pursued tertiary studies and obtained a Diploma in Business Administration from the International Training College Lingua in 2013.

 

Over the years, he has enhanced his professional skills through various specialized training programs. These include Labour Law Update Seminar at De Beer Law Chambers in 2019, Labour Relations and Labour Law at Astrotech in South Africa in 2016, and the Supervisory Development Programme at NIPAM in 2023. Additionally, he completed Managerial and Supervisory Skills Training in 2014 and Financial Management for Non-Finance Managers in 2015, both offered by the University of Namibia.

 

Councillor Tjihuiko has a rich history of political involvement spanning several organizations. He began as a Regional Organizer for NANSO from 1995 to 1999, later served as a Branch Organizer for SWAPO between 2009 and 2019, and held the position of Branch Secretary for NUDO from 2020 to 2023. Currently, he is affiliated with IPC party, where he served as a Mobiliser for the Windhoek West Constituency before being elected to the Windhoek Municipal Council.

 

He is recognized for his strong leadership and organizational abilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a results-driven approach. A committed team player, Councillor Tjihuiko is highly reliable and fluent in English, Afrikaans, and Otjiherero, which enables him to engage effectively with diverse communities.

 

Outside his professional and political commitments, he enjoys reading newspapers and magazines on economic, political, and social issues. He is also passionate about traveling, exploring new places, and experimenting with innovative ideas.
