In terms of the primary functions of this office, the Chief Executive Officer is tasked with the following responsibilities:
- Policy implementation
- Supervision and co-ordination of all departments
- Implementation of strategic objectives with the support of all staff
- Maintenance of discipline
- An accounting officer in terms of the Local Authorities Act 23 of 1992 as amended
The following Divisions falls directly in the office of the Chief Executive:
- Audit
- Corporate Communications, Marketing, Tourism and Customer Care, including Internal Communications)
- Legal
- Office of the Mayor
- Operations and Committee Services
- Strategy Support, including Organisational Performance, Business Process Management, Organisational Performance Management (pending investigation)
The office of the CEO also hosts the Public Relations Officer.
1. Marketing & Events Management
The Marketing and Events Management Section provides support functions to the organisation and the locality of Windhoek from a marketing perspective. The Section markets the municipal organisation as a dynamic and responsible organisation that strives to meet the needs of its residents. It promotes the City of Windhoek’s locality as a business, residential, investment, tourist and conference destination of choice in order to enhance local economic development. In addition, the Section provides support for the organising, planning and managing of Special Events and Projects for the organisation and locality.
