Autodesk MapGuide Viewer Download and Installation FAQ

	Which version of the Autodesk MapGuide Viewer should I download?
	For Microsoft IE running on Windows, you should download the MapGuide ActiveX Control Viewer (MGControl60.exe). For Netscape browsers running on Windows platform, you should download the Plugin version of the MapGuide Viewer (MGPlugin60.exe). For users using Mac or Solaris OS, you should install the MapGuide Java Edition Viewer. For AOL users, download the MapGuide ActiveX Control Viewer. Please make sure your system meet the minimum system requirements before installing.
	A message says "Autodesk MapGuide Viewer ActiveX Control requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher." during the installation of the viewer, but Internet Explorer 6 is already installed on the machine. What can I do?
	You may be trying to install an earlier version of the MapGuide Viewer. Starting January 16, 2002, a newer version of the MapGuide Viewer is available for the English language. Other localized versions of the MapGuide Viewers will be available soon. If you want to install MapGuide Viewer for Internet Explorer 6, please download the English version of the MapGuide Viewer from http://www.mapguide.com/downloads and run the installation again.
	A message says "This installation package cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service. You must install a Windows service pack that contains a newer version of the Windows Installer service." What can I do to install the MapGuide Viewer?
	You need to go to the Microsoft Windows Update web site to obtain the latest Service Pack update for your Operating System. After the update, install the MapGuide Viewer again.
	When I double click on MGControl60.EXE, I get an error message saying the following -- "Cannot find the file 'MSIEXEC' (or one of its components) make sure the path and filename are correct and that all required libraries are available." How can I install the Viewer?
	This is a known installation engine problem with the Microsoft Installer engine. You need to unregister and reregister the installer engine before installing the MapGuide Viewer. See Microsoft's knowledge base article for more details. Why can't I see any map after downloading the MapGuide Viewer? After downloading the MapGuide Viewer, make sure you install the viewer by double clicking on the downloaded EXE file. After installing, you can test your MapGuide Viewer by viewing the Local Government application from the online MapGuide Sample Applications area.
