The City’s Population

The City teams with life and dynamic cultural activities.  Windhoek‘s population is about 240 000, which is mainly made up by indigenous and western descendants groups. 

The Indigenous Group consists of the Owambo, Herero, Damara, Nama, Kavango, Caprivians, Sun, Tswana and Basters, while the Western Group is made up of Germans, Afrikaners, English and Portuguese. 

Due to ideal habitual and job opportunities that Namibia and Windhoek in particular has on offer other groups are emerging such as Indians, Chinese, Malaysian and so on.  All groups enjoy peace and harmony, the city upholds the principles of the rule of law and all citizens enjoy peace and harmony.  The City has friendly residents, who are united and enjoys mutual harmony.
